The Gnoll War
In 599 g.c., thousands of Gnolls poured out of the forest that now bears their name and ran rampant throughout the small farming communities of the Protectorate of Greystone. Attempts to bring the might of the Protectorate Army upon the Gnolls was met with little success, due to their dispersed nature. Eventually it was found that experienced warriors working either on their own or with a small elite band, had more success spreading out and eliminating the individual Gnoll bands than the army regulars did. This tradition was continued with the formation of the Knight Protectors.
